Diet Is a Four Letter Word!!!

First and foremost, I have to apologize to all the people that caught me rolling my eyes at them when they would ask me how my diet was going. Sorry, but I don’t “diet”. The word diet makes me feel deprived and depressed. I just want to eat what I want, when I want, without any restrictions!!! I can workout later and that’ll balance everything out, right? Well, I had been working out for years without any dietary restrictions, and I wasn’t having much success. So, I decided to try something different…

I gave the Whole30 program a shot, and I have to admit, I feel good! For 30 days I didn’t eat any sugar, dairy, legumes (beans, peas, seeds, etc.), or grains. To be honest, I never felt restricted or deprived. I ate very well actually! I filled up on lean meats and seafood, and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Most of my meals were homemade so I had full control over what I was putting into my body. Nothing I ate was processed or refined. I ate real, whole, good-for-you food that tastes so much better than the processed stuff anyway!

Of course I expected to lose a few pounds from changing my diet the way I did, but take a look at some of my more unexpected results:

  • I lost 13 pounds!!!
  • My skin is clearing up.
  • I don’t crave sugar and junk food as much as I did before.
  • My clothes are fitting better.
  • I have more endurance and stamina at the gym. I’m able to do things that I didn’t think I could do before.
  • I have less digestive issues.
  • I’m sleeping better.
  • I’m smiling more (that’s what happens when you start to feel better 😊).
  • And the list goes on and on…

I decided to try the Whole30 diet lifestyle change for two reasons: 1. I needed to get back on track with my fitness goals, 2. I had a sugar addiction that I needed to overcome. You know what? I have accomplished both! And the best part is, IT ONLY TOOK 30 DAYS! Having such a crazy sweet tooth, I didn’t think I would be able to go an entire month without the sweet treats that I love so much. I had a few cravings here and there, but they didn’t last long. It’s amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it!

Doing the Whole30 wasn’t easy (I even had carb flu! Yes, that’s a thing!) but I’m so happy I did it! My 30 days are over, but I’ve made some lifestyle changes that I can hold onto forever. I’m looking good and I’m feeling even better! So, my fitness journey continues, and you know I’ll keep you posted on my results.

With love always,

-Christina
